To The Scanner Mobile!

“The U.S. government has purchased 500 mobile X-ray vans, called Z Backscatter Vans or ZBVs to scan people and vehicles at sporting events, road stops and even at random.”

The vans are produced by American Science & Engineering and are being sold to both U.S. and foreign governments. The radiating technology installed in the vans is the same as that found in full-body airport scanners. [Source]

They have already been deployed in America, used to scan vehicles. Scanners have already been used outside of airports in the UK, as part of a police crackdown as posted here

Z Backscatter Vans are very mobile, they can scan whilst driving along. The product website details this application with regards to driving past vehicles and scanning them (as pictured), but how long untill these things are driving past large crowds, events, through the streets of large cities. With the recent fear mongering over the alleged plots concerning mumbai-style terror attacks in Europe, it’s not a stretch to believe that it wouldn’t even take a successful operation for these to be rolled out. One bungling patsy with a burnt crotch caused all this, so far.

In 2007 leaked papers from the home office talked about installing CCTV plus Body Scanning Technology into street lights which will scan all passers by.  [BBC ARTICLE]

Maybe in 5 to 10 years time we will be living in a sci-fi nightmare with hovering drones that scan everybody, everywhere..

Nice, unfortunately in the UK people can not opt out. There is no alternative pat down.

If selected you either go through the scanner, or you don’t get on the plane.

You actually make it seem really easy together with your presentation but I find this topic to be really one thing that I feel I’d never understand. It sort of feels too complicated and extremely broad for me. I am looking forward in your subsequent submit, I will try to get the dangle of it!
