Dubai has rejected the idea of Full Body (Naked) Body Scanners

“Out of respect for the privacy of individuals and their personal freedom,” finally somewhere with some fucking sense on the issue that these £80,000 a pop machines have raised. Will the rest of the world wake up?

Hey the economy is fucked and people are losing their jobs but lets piss money away on these useless machines.

“Emit radiation up to 20 times more powerful than previously thought”

Another recent article concerned about the machines causing cancer, because the scanners emit radiation up to 20 times more powerful than previously thought… The Times reports

Yes, you did read that right.  “Children and passengers with genetic mutations – around one in 20 of the population – were most at risk because they are less able to repair X-ray damage to their cells.” So it’s not just the child pornography laws being breached, or right to privacy for all citizens, but our cells aswell.  Fantastic.

Asian Invasion

July 6th, and Japan starts its trials of Full Body Scanners amid the same myriad of privacy concerns.

Whilst the South Korean human rights body is strongly opposed to the Body Scanners that have been installed for trials and will “go live” at the end of July. The human rights body said “The images can be leaked and used improperly”,  citing the case in which a British airport official used the scanner to take pictures of his female colleague you can read about that here in Body Scanner Bullshit #6

It is worth noting that South Korea ALLOWS THE OPTION OF MANUAL SEARCHES.

Note. OTHER COUNTRIES ALLOW YOU TO CHOOSE TO BE PATTED DOWN.

But no, not in the good ol’ UK, you either get a face full of radiation and have some knuckle dragging drop out see if you are carrying a bomb, or you DONT GET ON THE PLANE. Thanks UK, thanks.

Italy has announced it will install the scanners in every airport and TRAIN STATION, as has been warned previously by many that these will not stop at airports and will soon be mobile. Having already been used by UK Police in a city centre crackdown in Nottingham. Where else can we expect them to pop up?
